Profile of a Young Green Investor

Meet Christiana Wyly, a 25yr old American who was recently profiled by Kiplinger magazine in an article titled “Green Investing is the Next Big Thing”.

This article is a great insight into the new attitudes that a new generation has about investing in green technologies and alternative energies. It seems that many people now in there 20’s and 30’s have decided that they want to invest in companies that are having a positive impact on the world’s climate(Think Solar Power) rather than a negative one(Think Big Oil).

An important quote for any serious green investor:“Venture capitalists and other large investors who are pouring money into green enterprises aren’t doing it for charitable purposes, Peck says. “They have no intention of accepting inferior returns.”

It is very encouraging to see that attitudes are changing and people like Christiana are getting the story out, way to go green!

It’s all well and good to have green aspirations, but if there’s no choice, then money will default to the “other side”. Maybe you should run an article where you track the progress of “Green” companies over the course of a year, and see whether green will get you, well…. $green !

Check out some of my articles over at realworldnumbers.com for some environmental stuff. Love this page! Please keep it up!

Christiana, I found your winning smile on the cover of the magazine encouragement to got to the library and check out the copy available. someone else must have also found it interesting as two articles had been torn out. I admire your determination and work to help our world. i intend to investigate green investing as I hadn’t really thought of that before although I had used socially concious mutual funds.
    yours, Rod
